History Timeline

2025 – $100M Sales Pipeline

JT Automation’s sales pipeline approaches $100 million, driven by demand across defense, aerospace, medical, and consumer sectors.

2024 – Industry Recognition

JT Automation features in TRUMPF’s Laser Community Magazine, highlighting its impact on laser automation.

2023 – Facility Expansion

JT Automation moves from East Granby to Windsor, CT, expanding its production footprint sixfold. 

2021 – Leadership Transition

 Ryan Lombardini becomes President, having joined as an intern in 2016. Under his leadership, JT Automation achieves record-breaking sales. 

2017 – First Major Contract

 JT Automation secures a $20 million aviation contract to deliver approximately 30 systems in three designs, marking its first major commercial success.

2016 – JT Automation Officially Founded

JT Automation emerges from Joining Technologies as a dedicated OEM for automated laser systems, focusing on aerospace and medical markets.

2011 – Patent Awarded for Laser Splicing System

A splicing apparatus joins the trailing end of a downstream metal strip to the leading end of an upstream strip. It includes a base with a working surface, a movable cover assembly, a fixed platen, a sliding platen, and a laser device that both cuts and welds the strips. The device comprises a laser source and head, with the head mounted on the cover assembly.

2006 – Systems Department Formation

Joining Technologies begins building automated laser-based workcells for customers wanting to vertically integrate laser processes. This internal systems engineering department lays the foundation for JT Automation. 

1999 – Expansion into Laser Welding

 Energy Beam Labs evolves into Joining Technologies, relocating to East Granby, CT. The company expands into laser welding, laser cladding, and precision machining serving the aerospace, medical, and defense industries. 

1992 – FOunding of Energy Beam Labs

Michael Francoeur founds Energy Beam Labs in Cheshire, CT, focusing on electron beam welding. This seed will grow into Joining Technologies, JT Automation, American Cladding, and, parent company, Joining Industries.
